History of Calvary
A faith community since 1869.
Early members brought a small chapel called “The Branch Street Baptist Society” to life on the second floor of a nearby grammar school.
The chapel was later moved across from its original location, and a new building called “The Tabernacle” was constructed to accommodate the growing needs of the congregation.
We began our journey as Calvary Baptist Church on Hastings Street, after The Tabernacle was sold to another Church.
A church fire tragically destroyed everything, and many gathered together to begin the rebuilding process.
After three years of reconstruction, our present church home was dedicated in 1951.
Located in the highlands of Lowell, MA, today we serve a diverse membership reflective of the community around us.
