Genesis 1:31 "God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.
"It's not easy being green". Yes, it is! It's all iin the practice of good habits associated with recycling. Once you get started it becomes second nature. Take small steps to begin. Everyday, sort throiugh your mail and throw all unwanted paper into a paper bag instead of the trash. Keep 3 going at all times: one for paper, one for magazines and one for newspapers. Rinse out milk bottles and cans. Every town has slightly different guidelines. Just Google your city or town and the recycling page should come up.
On May 2nd Calvary participated in the All American cleanup sponsored by the City of Lowell. We cleaned up Armory Park on Westford Street, site of the Old Armory where members worshiped after the church burned. Those in attendance were: Pastor Lee, Gail and Jim Donahue, Stephen Pica, Alice and Ken Hughes, Doug Phinney, Faye Roberts, Peter Gibson and Janet Paton. We picked up trash and glass, swept dirt, raked wood chips and picked up oodles of brush and leaves. The weather was ideal! We wore green t-shirts that identified who we are and on the back it reads, “Serving GOD for 140 years”, to commemorate the Anniversary of Calvary this year. A special thank you to Ernie Dixon for sponsoring them for us and many thanks to Alice Hughes for ordering them. We accomplished a great deal in 2 hours and the park is rejuvenated for all to enjoy. Please check out the photos on the bulletin board in the Narthex.
The location for this cleanup was significant as we worshipped at the Lowell Armory for 3 years after our church building burned in 1948.
